Barcelona Carnival will take place from 12nd to 18th February

Numerous activities from 12nd to 18th February will be held in Barcelona for the carnival. During the 12th in particular, there is a traditional act of Barcelona in which seven ambassadors that represents every seven ancient villas, will appear on the market of Sants. The route they will do is the following: Plaça de Sant Cugat, Carrer dels Carders, placeta d’en Marcús, carrer de Montcada, Passeig del Born and Mercat del Born.

This is a summary of the program:

Thursday, 12th: Presentation of the seven ambassadors | Arrival of King Carnestoltes to the Market of Sants, represented by the musician Pau Riba and dance soiree with masks. The event starts at 6:00pm and ends at 7:30pm. Attendees will also enjoy the parades, jugglers, acrobats and essential giants of Barcelona. After that, the Fires of Carnival will start in the Commercial Square, in front of Born.

Friday the 13rd: Elegant dance of masks in the Born Cultural Centre 19:00 to 21:00 hours.

Saturday 14th: There will be 30 different parades of carnival. The king and the ambassadors will visit the seven villas and participate in one of the parades (Caramenxell of Magòria to Sants, Great Patantum of Solbaix a les Corts, Calicut Malabar i i Trestorres to Sarria Sant Gervasi, Bufallot d’en Grassot to Gràcia, Currutaca Bugadera i i Santgenís to Horta Guinardó, Maabiata of Txan-txan i Sant Andreu i Coats Barreto Mel Espirillingat of Sant Martí)

Sunday 15th: The Taronjada

4.30pm Catalan Dances of Carnival. Commercial Plaça

5.15pm The parade of King Carnestoltes

Wednesday 18th: The Burial of the Sardine at 11.00am, at Ciutadella Park

OrnitoFest 2015
